DROWNED-A distressing accident occurred at Plainfield, Iowa, on the 7th inst. A young man by the named of Richard Burkill endeavored to swim the Cedar River opposite that point, in order to procure a boat, with which to take his brother over. He had accomplished nearly the whole distance in safety, and was within a few feet of the shore, when the unfortunate man was suddenly seized with a cramp, and sank down to rise no more. At last advices the body had not yet been recovered.
