Edward Ruprecht, so long and favorably known to the people of this county as the landlord of the "Farmers' Home," is the next victim of the grim destroyer. He was in as good health as could be expected for a man of his age, 64 years, until the moment of his death, which occurred about 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening.

He was conversing with several friends at that time, when he suddenly dropped back in his chair and expired. Physicians were called in who ascribed his death to an attack of paralysis of the heart.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at three o'clock from the "Farmers' Home," the residence of the deceased, and was an imposing affair. In addition to a large number of friends from the city and adjoining country, the German Society turned out in a body and carried out the mournful details, Mr. Ruprecht having been an ancient and honored member of that society. The singing section furnished solemn and appropriate music for the occasion, and the remains were deposited in Oak Hill cemetery with all due honors.

Mr. Ruprecht was born in Marklissa, province of Silesia, Germany, in 1816. He emigrated to this country in 1854, and came to Lansing in March, 1855, and has resided here ever since. He was one of our oldest settlers, and leaves a wife and two grown up sons.

He was a kind and affable old gentleman, and was respected and esteemed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
