-Contributor's notes:
1. In the 1860-70 period, three churches were started in what then was called the German Evangelical Association, later Evangelical United Brethren and then United Methodist. The three were consolidated into Calvery EUB in Lansing in 1928. One of these churches was located at Thompson's Corner and founded by my ancestors. One was at Lansing and the other at Mays Prairie. They were served by one minister.
2. Most of the early records were written in German Script so I first had to translate that into English character before translating [with much help from the dictionary] it into English. I am not fluent in German so there may be a few translation errors, but the identification of many spouses maiden names was very important to our search.
3. Translations and transcriptions are my own. The use of [ ] is to identify my own remarks, interpretations, and completion of abbreviated words. The [?] reflect the spelling or translation to be a best guess. Translations appear directly under the German.
4. The words and descriptive formula are used for virtually all entries until the mid 1880’s where maiden names become less frequent.
5. Notes of records with ID #1-15 photocopied by Deb Goettel Kiley, February, 2000. Records with ID #’s above 20 retrieved by Deb Goettel Kiley and myself, Steven Lloyd Goettel in August, 2000.
