1893 Chicago World's Fair
Allamakee co. Attendees

The Chicago World's Fair, also known as the Colombian Exposition of 1893, was visited by 27 million people from all over the world. It ran from May 1 to October 31, 1893 and proved to be a very popular vacation destination for many residents of Allamakee Co. I have extracted the names of World's Fair visitors from 1893 editions of the Postville Review. Although I am quite sure this list is not all-inclusive of everyone who visited the Fair from the area, the list is interesting. A study of the other local Allamakee Co. papers would undoubtedly double the number of people on this list.
