- My mother has worked on our
family genealogy for as many years as I can
remember. I grew up in California, but before
that my grandparents lived in Wyoming and before
that, North Dakota. I didn't know we had anyone
from Iowa. What a surprise to find the obituary
of a great-great-uncle (my mom's side) on your
Allamakee county website. I sent it to my mom

stumbled across the Allamakee website quite by
accident. My mother always said she thought she
remembered Grandmother telling her that her
mother had been born in Iowa, but that's the only
information I had. My Grandmother & Mother
are now gone, and nobody else in the family knows
anything about our family genealogy. A google
search found an obituary that mentioned my great
uncle, and that obituary lead me to additional
information on your site. I am still reeling!
