Calvin Dresser & Sarah Hawkins were married in 1832. They came to Allamakee county in 1855. They are buried in the Postville cemetery, Area C.

Cast iron mortar & pestle used by Calvin Dresser in the Bayless, Douglass & Company Drug Store

Calvin Dresser was a part-owner in the Bayless, Douglass & Company Drug Store. He being 'the company' part of the firm name.
The drug store was a part of the old Brick Block on the corner of Green & Lawler streets in Postville, and was built ca1873. The firm also had a drug store in Elkader, Clayton county.

They talked extensively about the wagon trip from the north thru Kansas to Louisiana. I don't know why they went south and how the families met up.
