December 1856

Before the Clerk of the District Clerk appeared Hugh Clark a native Ireland aged twenty one years who being duly sworn upon his oath declares that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereighnty Whatsoever and particularly to Victoria Queen of England of whom he is at present a Subject.
