JOINS WAVES

Iowa Falls, Ia. -- Miss Ruby Jean Wood, office secretary at the senior high school, has enlisted in the Waves, the second Iowa Falls girls, Miss Marian Johnson, having enlisted a few days ago. Miss Wood is a graduate of Ellsworth Junior college; she expects to be called for training about Dec. 1. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wood of Iowa Falls.

Iowa City -- Ruby Wood, yeoman first class in the Waves, is spending a 15-day leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wood. She has been stationed at the naval air base in Pensacola, Fla., since she completed her basic training.

Iowa Falls -- Ruby Wood has been advanced from yeoman first class to chief petty officer at Pensacola, Fla., according to information received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wood. Miss Wood began service in the Waves 22 months ago, and is the first Wave to be advance from apprentice seaman to chief petty officer on the bases. Prior to enlistment in the Waves, she was office secretary at the senior high school. She has been stationed at the naval air base in Pensacola since she completed her basic training.

Iowa Falls -- Ruby Wood, chief petty officer, has received a discharge from the navy after serving with the Waves for 35 months, and has returned to the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs William H Wood. She was based at Pensacola, Fla., during all her service.
