Three Waterloo Nurses Called for Army Duty

Three more Waterloo nurses, including two on the staff of Allen Memorial hospital and one doing private nursing, who enlisted for nursing service through the Red Cross, have been called to active duty with the army at Fort Riley, Kan., it was announced Thursday.

They are Miss Frances Scherrman and Miss Muriel Whelan, 1850 Logan avenue, both of whom joined the staff of Allen Hospital in October, 1941; and Miss Mary Walsh, 1113 Vine street, who has been engaged in general nursing. Miss Scherrman has been residing at the hospital.

All are graduates of Mercy Hospital, Dubuque.

They will leave for Fort Riley on March 16 and will have the rank of second lieutenants.
