AT OKLAHOMA BASE

Miss Betty J. Wainscott has completed her WAVE boot training at Hunter's college, New York, and was transferred to a base in Norman, Okla., where she began her duties in the post office, relatives here have been informed.

Her address is Betty J. Wainscott, seaman 2/c c-0 P.O. NTTC, Norman, Okla.

Seaman Wainscott, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wainscott, R.R. No. 3, Muscatine, left for boot training at Hunter's college on Aug. 23 of this year.

BACK TO DUTY

Betty J. Wainscott, seaman second class in the WAVES, and her fiance, Eugene B. Jeneman, gunner's mate, second class, recently spent 10 days visiting in Davenport and Muscatine and have now returned to duty.

They visited Miss Wainscott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wainscott, Muscatine, and with her sister, Mrs Fred Wulf, 2333 West Second street, with whom she made her home for the year before entering the service. Jeneman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jeneman, Salem S.D., whom he is visiting en route back to his post at Norman, Okla.

Jeneman planned to visit Miss Wainscott at the New Orleans WAVES post before returning to duty. She has been in service since last August, while he has been in service since December, 1942, and has served in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas.

Betty J. Wainscott, seaman second class in the WAVES, recently spent a 10-day leave visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wainscott, Muscatine, and her sister, Mrs. Fred Wulf, 2333 West Second street, with whom she made her home for the year before entering the service and has returned to duty at the New Orleans Waves post.

Miss Wainscott entered the service last August and received her boot training at Hunter college, New York. She attended Davenport high school and prior to joining the service, was employed by the International Harvester Co.

Betty Jane Wainscott Spalding was born Apr. 29, 1923 to Lee and Essie Mabel Wiseman Wainscott. She died Sept. 3, 2012 and is buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

Betty served with the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II. She was married to Paul Joseph Spalding. Sgt. Spalding served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
