Ruth Underberg Is Now Lieutenant (j.g.)

Ruth Underberg, of the navy nurse corps, has been promoted from ensign to lieutenant (j.g.). Lt Underberg is stationed at San Diego, Calif. She is the daughter of Mrs Margaret Underberg.

Lt. Underberg on Terminal Leave Until June 12th

Lt. Ruth Underberg, nurse corps, USNR, is home on terminal leave, having been separated from the service April 10 at Great Lakes, Ill. Her leave expires June 12.

Lt. Underberg, daughter of Mrs. A.J. Underberg, has been in the service three years. Entering as an ensign, she was subsequently promoted to lieutenant, junior grade and recently to a full lieutenancy.

She was in California most of the time, having been attached to three different hospitals there -- the U.S. Naval hospital, Mare Island, U.S. Naval hospital, San Diego and the U.S. Convalescent hospital at Rancho Santa Fe. During the last five months she had been at the naval hospital in Philadelphia.

Ruth Underberg Of Carroll Is Bride of Davenport Man

The wedding of Ruth Susan Underberg, daughter of Mrs. Margaret Underberg, 638 West 15th street, Carroll, and Robert Allen Williams, son of Mrs. Henry Pauly, 1549 West 14th street, Davenport, was solemnized at 8 o'clock this morning in Holy Family church, Davenport.

Alvin H. Underberg of Carroll gave his sister in marriage at the double ring ceremony, which was followed by a nuptial low mass. The Rev. Fr. F.J. Lenoch officiated.

The bride, who has been a staff nurse at Mercy hospital, Davenport, is a graduate of Carroll high school and St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing, Carroll. She served in the Navy Nurse Corps Reserve during the war.

Mr. Williams was graduated from St. Ambrose academy, Davenport, and was in the navy for three years, including overseas duty in the Pacific area. He is enrolled at the State University of Iowa, where he is majoring in law.
