Lt. Gertrude E. Schuldt

RECEIVE THEIR COMMISSIONS

Miss Gertrude Elaine Schuldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Schuldt, 1616 Court street, and Miss Lois Ann Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hansen, South Sioux City, Nebraska, have received commissions as second lieutenants.  They will depart Wednesday for Camp Carson, Colo., for three weeks basic training in the Army Nurse Corps.

The first two and one-half years of their training under the Unites States nurse cadet corps program was received at the Lutheran hospital, after which they went as senior nurses to the Schick hospital, Clinton, Ia., where they completed their three-year course.  They then returned to Sioux City and were graduated with their class, June 12, 1944.

Miss Schuldt attended high school at Platte Center, Neb., and was graduated from Central high school in Sioux City, after which she worked for two years as a stenographer at Western States Manufacturing company.

IN UNIFORM

Capt. Earle E. Paxson, adjutant of Schick General Hospital and husband of the former Gertrude Schuldt of Sioux City, will attend command and general staff school at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for a period of ten weeks. His wife, Second Lt. Gertrude Paxson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Schuldt, 1615 Court Street is a member of the army nurse corps stationed at Saipan.
