Miss Quinley New Recruit for SPARS

Miss Claudean Quinley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.V. Quinley, 252 15th S.E., will leave Jan. 11 for Palm Beach, Fla., where she will begin her basic training in the SPARS at the Coast Guard training stations.

Miss Quinley who enlisted Dec 16, was previously employed by the government as signal corps inspector and has been stationed in St Louis since May. She was given a military furlough to enlist in the SPARS.

Miss Quinley is a graduate of the Mason City high school. She has been spending the holiday season at the home of her parents here.

SPAR ADVANCE -- Miss Claudean Quinley, daughter of Mr and Mrs H.V. Quinley, 416 15th S.E. has been advanced from seaman 1/c to petty officer, radioman 3/c in the SPARS. Miss Quinley is on duty at the U.S. Coast guard air station, Port Angeles, Wash.
