Lt. Mildred Pottebaum

 

 

 

WAR SERVICE NEWS  

Mildred Pottebaum, 21, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Pottebaum of Alton, has been called to active duty in the Marine Corps women’s reserve and will leave for Hunter College, New York, May 29.  Miss Pottebaum has completed two years of college at Western Union, and previous to her position as 6th and 7th grade teacher in the consolidated public school of Salix, she taught three years in the schools of Sioux county.

Alton Democrat:  Lt. Mildred A. Pottebaum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pottebaum, recently won her commission in the marine corps, and her address will be Bks. 225, MCAI, Cherry Point, No. Car.  Mildred is a second former Alton girl to win a commission in the armed forces, and the first in the marine corps.
