Joins WAVES

Ruth Peterson, daughter of Mrs. Lulu Peterson, 1454 West Ninth street, was one of a group of 11 to be sworn into the WAVES this week as Des Moines. She will report to Madison, Wis., about the middle of December for four months training in radio and she hopes eventually to do teletype or communications work.

Miss Peterson, who has a brother in the navy also, says "If he's in, I want to help too, so that he can get our sooner."
She has been employed in the purchasing department of the Ordnance Steel foundry in Bettendorf.

3 Davenporters Are Graduated by WAVES

Three young women from Davenport have completed their five week indoctrination course at naval training school, women's reserve, at Cedar Falls, Ia., and were included in the class of 1,029 WAVES graduated there today.

The Davenport trio include: Marjorie E. Cameron, 1213 College avenue; Ruth G. Peterson, 1454 West Ninth street and Lulu F. Wood, 1312, Farnam street.

RUTH PETERSON IS IN MIAMI

Ruth Peterson, petty officer, third class, has reported to Miami, Fla., for active duty following a seven-day furlough with her mother, Mrs. Lulu Peterson, 2311 1/2 West First street. She received her basic training at Cedar Falls, Ia., and was promoted to petty officer. Miss Peterson has two brothers in the navy, Bob Peterson, petty officer, second class, at Dearborn, Mich., and Ensign Clifford Peterson at Tucson, Arizona.
