Ensign Ila Nieman

 

 

 

 

Plainfield -- Ensign Ila Nieman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Nieman, who enlisted as a navy nurse in January, 1945, has been sent to San Leandro, Cal., where she expects to be stationed for the present. Since her graduation from Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown in 1940 she has served as special nurse in the Methodist hospital in Denver, Colo. Her brother, Pfc. William G Nieman, inducted in December, 1942, has been overseas since October, 1944, with the 410th infantry. He wears the Purple Heart for wounds received in Germany in November, 1944. He is now stationed near Innstruck, Austria, with the Seventh army.

PLAINFIELD GIRL WILL ENTER BIBLE INSTITUTE

Plainfield, Ia. -- Miss Ila Nieman, recently discharged from Balboa Park at San Francisco, Cal., after serving 16 months as a navy nurse and receiving the rank of ensign, arrived home Friday for a short vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Will Nieman, making the trip from San Francisco to Washington, DC., by plane. Miss Nieman was a registered nurse at Denver Colo., before entering the service. She has one brother, Galen, still in service, and another brother, William, has been discharged. Upon a short vacation, Miss Nieman will enter Moody Bible Institute at Chicago.
