IOWAN NAVY'S QUEEN

A bouquet of flowers in her arms, Ruth Miller, yeoman, third class, Ames, Ia., is crowned queen of the Norfolk, Va., naval operating base by Capt. T.S. McCloy, commanding officer of the navy receiving station there. Yeoman Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Miller of Ames, attended Iowa State college at Ames before entering the service in March, 1944.

Ruth Constance Miller Nielsen was born July 16, 1923 to Sidney A. and Tora Cecelia Amlund Miller.

Ruth served in World War II with the U.S. Navy WAVES in the office of the Director of Training, Fifth Naval District.
