Dorothy Mentzer, adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Read, 215 Franklin street, has joined the WAC and will report to Fort Des Moines, Wednesday. Miss Mentzer was employed by Rath Packing company until her enlistment. Her brother, James Read, seaman second class is attending aviation mechanic school in Oklahoma.

Cpl. Dorothy L. Mentzer has returned to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., after spending a 10-day furlough at her home, 215 Franklin street. She was inducted into service in August 1943, and received her basic training at Fort Des Moines, Ia. She was transferred to Fort Leonard Wood last February and is now serving in a railway transportation office.
