Lt. Lila Leora Maxon

 

 

 

 

IN NURSE CORPS

Miss Lila Maxon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maxon of Clarion, former Webster City residents, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps and has been assigned to duty at Camp McCoy, Sparta, Wis., effective Nov. 2. 

A graduate of the Webster City high school, Lieutenant Maxon completed nurses training at Kahler hospitals at Rochester, Minn., and practiced nursing at Billings Memorial hospital, Chicago, prior to entering the service. She is expected home on a short leave Wednesday.

Notes:

Lila Leora Maxon was born Jan. 24, 1922 to Robert and Bessie Segar Maxon.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City and attended Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. After receiving her nursing degree she joined the U.S. Army as a registered nurse in the Army Nurse Corps. She served as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. She was also a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps. She married Alvin S. Rousse and they lived in New Orleans, LA where she died June 11, 1992.
