Ensign Mary Magirl

 

Ensign Mary Magirl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jame Magirl of Stanley, will leave Tuesday, May 18th, for the U.S. Naval Hospital at Samson, N.Y.

Ensign Magirl graduated from Winthrop High school. While attending St. Joseph's Nursing School in Dubuque, she joined the Student Reserve of the Red Cross, and upon graduation in 1942 became a member of the First Reserve. She is a member of the staff at Jones Hospital in Manchester for four months.

Stanley, Ia. -- Ensign Mary Magirl, of the navy nursing corps, U.S. navy reserve and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jame Magirl of Stanley, has gone to the naval hospital at Sampson, New York. Ensign Magirl was graduated from Winthrop High school and while attending the school of nursing at St. Joseph's hospital in Dubuque joined the student reserve of the Red Cross. She formerly was a member of the staff of Jones hospital at Manchester.

STANLEY NURSE LEAVES FOR OVERSEAS SERVICE

Stanley, Ia. -- Ensign Mary Magirl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Magirl, who reside east of Stanley, has left for service as a nurse with the U.S. naval forces overseas. A graduate of the Mercy hospital school of nursing at Dubuque, Ensign Magirl enlisted in the navy nurse corps last May and had been stationed at Sampson, N.Y.
