Miriam Lieberknecht To Begin Service In WAACS

Wapello -- The third young woman to enlist for service with women's war units, Miss Miriam Lieberknecht, English teacher in the junior high school here, is awaiting call for service with the women's auxiliary army corps. She passed her physical examination for duty with the WAACS in Des Moines Saturday. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Liebernecht of Letts.

SERGT. LIEBERKNECHT HOME

Letts., Ia. -- Sergt. Miriam Lieberknecht, WAC, Sheppard Field, Wichita, Texas, is on an 18-day furlough with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lieberknecht, Sr. She is a graduate of Letts high school and Coe college, and taught in the Cotter and Wapello schools.

CONCLUDES VISIT

Letts, Ia. -- Mrs. Olen Taylor, the former Miriam Lieberknecht, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Lieberknecht, Sr., has joined her husband, a staff sergeant at Biloxi, Miss. Mrs. Taylor, who was married Feb. 12, was recently discharged from the WAC at Ft. Sheridan, Ill., after having been in the service since 1942.

Miriam Alice Lieberknecht Taylor was born Oct. 20, 1912 to Henry A. and Winifred L. Shellabarger Liberknecht. She died June 24, 2000 and is buried in Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Mississippi.

She was married to Olen Young Taylor. M/Sgt. Taylor served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
