Lt. Marie Leslie

 

Nurse Ordered to Duty.

Miss Marie Leslie, daughter of Mrs. L. L. Leslie, has been ordered to report, Jan. 3, for a year of active duty with the United States Army Nurse Corps at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Little Rock, Ark.  She will go into the army with a rank of second lieutenant.

Miss Leslie is a graduate of the Traer High school with the class of 1932, and the last year has been floor supervisor in the Ellis Fischel State Cancer hospital at Columbia, Mo.

Traer, Ia. -- Lt. Marie Kelso, the former Miss Marie Leslie and now an army nurse, spent several days here the last week visiting her mother, Mrs Laura Leslie. The last several months Lieutenant Kelso has been on the staff of the McClosky hospital at Temple, Tex. She left here for Washington state where she plans to join her husband, a major in the army, who has been in the Aleutians the last year.

Traer - Lt. Marie Leslie Kelso, daughter of Mrs. Laura Leslie, Traer, has received a medical discharge after serving as an army nurse for the last three and a half years. She has been afflicted with arthritis of the spine for many months. Prior to her discharge, she has been on the staff at McClosky hospital at Temple, Tex. for the last five months. She is now making her home with her husband, a lieutenant colonel in the army, in Fort Lewis, Wash.

Marie Leslie Kelso was born Jan. 20, 1915 to Lawrence L. and Laura Owens Leslie. She died Mar. 6, 2004 in Port Angeles, WA.
