Mildred Kennedy Returns to Norfolk Following Furlough

West Liberty -- Mildred Kennedy, of the WAVES has returned to Norfolk, Va., after passing a 10-day leave at her home here. She enlisted in March 1943, and received her first training at Hunter college, N.Y., and is now a specialist photographer and is stationed at Norfolk, Va.

Mildred Arlene Kennedy Fitzgerald was born Sept. 26, 1920 to Joseph E. and Bertha May Barnhart Kennedy. She died Oct. 31, 1978 and is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty, IA.

Mildred served with the U.S. Navy WAVES at the Photo Lab, Naval Air Station, Norfolk, VA. She was married to John Raymond Fitzgerald. John served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
