Sgt. Elizabeth A. Hawkinson

 

 

Miss Elizabeth A. Hawkinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hawkinson, 2116 Jersey Ridge road, has been sworn into the service n the Women's Army corps. She is a former Davenport high school student and has been employed at the Rock Island arsenal. Her brother, Pfc. William Hawkinson, is with the American army in Belgium.

Miss Hawkinson has been active in the Women's War Worker organization of the Y.W.C.A.

Two Former WACS Reenlist in Army; First in Davenport

The army recruiting office in Davenport has helped many World War II fighting men get back into uniform, but today, for the first time, recruiters here enlisted two former WACS.

They are Richenda A. Gansworth, 2318 Carey avenue, and Elizabeth Hawkinson, 2116 Jersey Ridge road, both reenlisting at their war service grade of technician, fifth grade.

Miss Gansworth is a veteran of 24 months overseas service in Italy, and Miss Hawkinson had nine months previous service as a surgical technician at Schick General hospital, Clinton.

They will leave Sunday night for Fort Snelling, Minn., where they receive final physical examinations.

Elizabeth Hawkinson Visits Parents Here

Sergt. Elizabeth A. Hawkinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Hawkinson, 2116 Jersey Ridge road, and Tech. Sergt. Luke M. Chicoski will spend the holidays at the Hawkinson home.

Sergt. Hawkinson is stationed at Chanute field, Ill., and Sergt. Chicoski is stationed at Ft. Jackson, S.C.
