Miss Hazel Hansen

 

 

 

Joins WAVES

Miss Hazel Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hansen on route No. 1, Davenport, will report to Hunter college in the Bronx, New York City, on July 15, to begin her "boot training" as a WAVE.

Miss Hansen is a graduate of the Davenport high school and she attended the Iowa States Teachers college at Cedar Falls, where she was associated with the Phi Chi Delta sorority.

For the past five years she as been a teacher in the rural school of Scott county, in Lincoln and LeClaire townships.

WAVE of the Day

Miss Miriam Jeannette Hansen, apprentice seaman of the WAVES, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hansen, R.R. No. 1, Davenport, was recently sworn into service and is now awaiting her order to report for "boot" training.

Seaman Hansen attended the local schools, Tarkio college, Tarkio, Mo., and the Iowa State Teachers college. She has been active in the Normal club, has held various offices in the 4-H clubs of the county and taught last year in the Forest Grove school, Pleasant Valley township.

Seaman Hansen's sister, Hazel Hansen, is also serving in the WAVES as a specialist second class at the naval air station at Corpus Christi, Tex.
