JOINS NURSE CORPS

Wellsburg, Ia. -- Miss Irma Groninga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Groninga of near Wellsburg, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the army nurses corps in the regular army. She was graduated from the school of nursing at Deaconess hospital in Marhsalltown in September, 1942. She reported Tuesday at Des Moines for assignment to active duty.

WELLSBURG VISITOR

Wellsburg, Ia. -- Lt. Irma Groninga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Groninga of Wellsburg, is home on a 20-day leave. She is serving as a nurse in a government hospital in Alaska. She came by plane from Alaska to Des Moines.

Wellsburg -- Lt. Irma Groninga of the army nurse corps, daughter of County Supervisor and Mrs. L. J. Groninga of Wellsburg, is spending a month's furlough at home after completing 16 months service as army nurse in the station hospital at White Horse, Canda. She has been in service 22 months, having served six months at Ft. Des Moines before going to Canada. She will leave the last of the month for Hot Springs, Ark. for reassignment.
