Lucille Arlene “Beanie” Flanders Danaher

Arlene was born June 9, 1924, in Keota, Iowa, to Frank and Mary Ann Schulte Flanders. Petty Officer Flanders served in World War II with the U.S. Navy WAVES Field Branch, Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, Cleveland, OH. She also served in Korea.

She married Chief Warrant Officer Danaher who served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nevada (BB-36) and and was in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He was also aboard ship during the invasion on the beaches of Normandy and during the invasion of Okinawa. He also served in Korea and Vietnam.

She died May 22, 2010 and is buried in Holy Trinity Cemeteries-Saint Marys Cemetery, Keota, IA. (Arlene’s funeral service was held in DesMoines but she is buried in Keota.)
