Getting Around
Two girls at the Sioux Indian settlement, Shields, N.D. decided to take a walk to Fort Yates and join the women's army corps. They are Rosalind Eagle and Myrtle Fool Bear. They put on their coats and away they went. There was a fair reason why the two Indian maids got quite chilly, very hungry and a little disheveled before they reached the point of enlistment. The distance walked by Rosalind and Myrtle, now getting their basic training at Fort Des Moines, is 35 miles. They started at 9 a.m. and reached Fort Yates at 10 p.m.
