QUAD-CITY RECRUITS FOR WAVES - Pictures are 22 of 30 girls of this community who will leave Wednesday for Chicago, there to join others of this Ninth naval district who will report at the United States naval training school at Hunter college, New York for their indoctrination course. This group is composed of girls who have enlisted since Jan. 1.

Jean Derry, specialist IBM machine operator, third class, is home on a seven-day leave from Washington, D.C., and is visiting at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weber, 530 North Lincoln avenue.

Miss Derry entered the navy Feb. 22, 1944; received her basic training at Hunter college, N.Y., and was assigned from there to the naval communications department at Washington, D.C. She was an employee of the Davenport Democrat prior to entering the service.
