DRAFT CALLS FIRST PRE-PEARL HARBOR FATHERS

Five Pocahontas county men reported at Des Moines March 6th for induction into the Armed Forces.  This group includes the first pre-Pearl Harbor fathers to be called from this county.  All fathers previously inducted volunteered to enter service prior to the date they would have normally been called.

Ferris L. Malcolm, Gilmore City, rural mail carrier, 1 child.
R. Gordon Leigh, Havelock, produce dealer, 2 children.
Stanley S. Colee, Havelock, truck owner and operator, 4 children.
Vernon R. Endersbe, Rolfe, laborer, 2 children.
W. Wayne Urban, Laurens, service station operator, 2 children.

A large contingent of me were scheduled to report at Camp Dodge Wednesday, March 8, for their pre-induction physical examination.  However, their trip had to be postponed due to the snow storm that paralyzed traffic in and out of Des Moines for a couple of days.
