Will Go Overseas With Red Cross

Two tri-city girls will report in Washington, D.C. this month for two weeks training prior to assignment overseas as staff assistants with the American Red Cross. They are Miss Marian Hansen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry O. Hansen of 624 Fourth street, Bettendorf, who will report April 9, and Miss Mary Lou Bowers, daughter of Mr/ and Mrs/ H.E. Bowers of 2720 Farnam street, Davenport, who will report April 30.

Miss Hansen was graduated from Davenport high school, attended MacMurray college in Jacksonville, Ill., for one year, and received her B.A. degree form the State University of Iowa, where she was affiliated with Gamma Phi Beta sorority Pi Epsilon Pi, pep fraternity and Seals, university women's swimming club and served as president of the junior-senior Y.W.C.A. and as transfer orientation leader for the University Women's association. Until recently she has been a continuity writer at radio station WOC. She is a member of Chapter FJ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Miss Bowers, a graduate of the Davenport high school, attended Coe college in Cedar Rapids for two years and was graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she was affiliated with the Chi Omega sorority. She is on the staff at the Davenport public library, serves as secretary of the Recent Graduates group of the American Association of University Women and is vice president of the Tri City Panhellic association.
