T/3 Leo F. Zimmer

T-3 Leo F. Zimmer of Springfield, Mo., has been awarded the bronze star as a result of his organization of a volunteer litter squad which faced heavy enemy artillery and mortar fire to go to the aid of a seriously wounded infantryman. After giving first aid, T-3 Zimmer and three other medical soldiers were forced to carry the wounded man for some eight hours before reaching a permanent aid station. During most of this time they were subject to heavy enemy fire. He has served in the Southwest Pacific area for 20 months and wears the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with one battle star. He is a graduate of Trinity high school.
