Sgt. John E. "Jack" Zeihan

 

 

 

John E. ‘Jack’ Zeihan was born Oct. 8, 1913 to John E. and Millie K. Christianson Zeihan. He died Dec. 7, 1976 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Sgt. Zeihan served in England in World War II. He was attached to a chemical battalion.

Jack E. Zeihan, 63, 1101 Second St., died Tuesday evening at the Hamilton County hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with Father Joseph Sullivan officiating and with burial in Calvary cemetery. Rosary will be Thursday night at 8 o’clock at the Foster Funeral home.

Jack E. Zeihan, son of John and Millie Christensen Zeihan, was born Oct. 8, 1913, in Webster City where he was reared and educated. He later attended the Chillicothe Business college in Missouri.

On Nov. 21, 1940, he was united in marriage to Ann Dorio, and had worked for the Iowa Liquor Commission until his retirement three years ago.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Joanna) Fernandes of Boone; one son, John Zeihan of Boone; two grandchildren, Jyoti and John Fernandes; one sister Mrs. J.D. (Mildred) Parsons of Elmhurst, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church, and also a member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II.
