Lt. Walter Leonard Wilson

 

 

 

Walter Leonard Wilson was born Aug. 18, 1918 to Melvin and Mary E. White Wilson. He died July 24, 1945 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. He has a cenotaph in Dawson Cemetery, Paton, IA.

Lt. Wilson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 667th Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group and was shot down over Shumitomo metal factory aboard B-29-BW Superfortress #44-70132 which crashed into Osaka Bay, Japan with the loss of ten crew members.
