Lt. Richard Willits

Emmetsburg, Ia.—A memorial mass was held Saturday morning for Lt. Richard Willits, who was killed in action on December 11, 1944. The services were held in the Assumption church here with Very Rev. W. F. Mason officiating.  Mrs. Willits is the former Venita Joynt, of Emmetsburg.

Richard Andrew Willits was born Nov. 3, 1918 to Andrew and Estella Mae Fortney Willits. He died Dec. 11, 1944 and is buried in Epinal American Cemetery, Dinoze, France.

2nd Lt. Willits served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 315th Fighter Squadron, 324th Fighter Group and was awarded the Purple Heart.
