Died on Dec. 13 of Wounds Received in Action in France

Pvt. Robert Widdrington Went Overseas in June; Had Not Seen 2nd Child

Pvt. Robert E. Widdrington, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Widdrington, West Haven, died on Dec. 13 of wounds received in action in France on Dec. 5. His wife, the former Irene Pippert of Mason City, and their 2 daughters live at Vancouver, Wash. Pvt. Widdrington had not seen his 2nd daughter, now 3 moths old.

Pvt. Widdrington had been overseas since last June and had served in Italy before going to France. He was born in Mason City on Sept. 24, 1918, and attended the Mason City schools. Before entering the service in November, 1942, he was employed at Decker's.

Besides his parents and family, he is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. William Jones and Mrs Harold Robertson both of West Haven.

Robert Edward Widdrington was born Sept. 24, 1918 to John and Adella Fieldstad Widdrington. He died Dec. 13, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint Avold, France.

Pvt. Widdrington served with the U.S. Army 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division and was KIA in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
