LANESBORO NEWS:
Misses Freyda Whiting and Marjorie Miller, both student nurses of Des Moines, came Sunday and spent the day in the home of the former’s other, Mrs. Leslie Whiting, and to visit with her brother, Dellwyn Whiting.
TRANSFERRED
Lanesboro (THNS) –Dellwyn Whiting, of the U.S. Army, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Leslie Whiting. He left Sunday to report for duty at Sioux Falls, S.D., where he has been transferred from Wichita Falls, Tex.

COMPLETES COURSE
Sioux Falls, S.D. –Pfc. Dellwyn B. Whiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Whiting of Lanesboro, recently completed an intensive course in radio operator-mechanics at the Technical School, Army Air Forces Training Command, Sioux Falls, S.D. He is now prepared to join the crew of a bomber, or to take up any other radio duties to which the AAF Training Command may assign him.

FEW DAYS’ VISIT
Lanesboro (THNS)—Lieutenant Freyda Whiting, an army nurse, stationed at Davis Monthon Field, Tucson, Ariz., since February, came Sunday for a few days’ visit in the home of her mother, Mrs. Leslie Whiting, and brother, Merlyn.  She stopped en route home at Austin, Tex., where she visited her brother, Dellwyn Whiting, who is in the U.S. Army and stationed at that place.

GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL
Austin, Tex.—Pfc. Dellwyn B. Whiting, of Lanesboro, Iowa, has been awarded the Army Good Conduct medal at Bergstrom Field, the First Troop Carrier Command’s crew replacement center at Austin, Tex.  The award was made by Colonel Samuel J. Davis, Base Commanding Officer.  Pfc. Whiting’s mother, Mrs. Rose Whiting, resides at Lanesboro, Iowa.

Dellwyn Whiting, who is home on leave from the U.S. Army, Merlyn Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith and son, Kimball, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sherer, Mrs. Kenneth Sherer, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Garwood and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sherer, of Lake City.
