Cushing, Iowa--Pvt. Wesley Volkert with the Fourth marine division was wounded in the Iwo Jima campaign. He was evacuated to the Marianas and now is in a hospital in Hawaii.

Our Neighbors in Service
Cushing, Iowa—Pvt. Wesley Volkert, who was wounded on Iwo Jima March 2, had been returned to duty with the fourth marine division. He was hospitalized in Hawaii and later spent some time at a rest camp there. He recently was awarded the Purple Heart.
