Fredrick A. Vernon was born May 13, 1920 to Fredrick G. and Mary A. Murphy Vernon. He died Sept. 11, 2002 and is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Ozark, AL.
Major Vernon served with the 4th Marine Air Wing in World War II. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. Major Vernon was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
