Virgil Ray Veldhuizen was born Feb. 18, 1921 to Gerrit and Emma Rempe Veldhuizen. He died Oct. 26, 1944 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Pvt. Veldhuizen served in World War II with the U.S. Army 50th Engineer Combat Battalion and was KIA on Leyte and awarded a Purple Heart
