James F. Torpey was born Apr. 27, 1921 to William J. and Gertrude Margaret Farrell Torpey. He died Dec. 20, 1943 and is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Pvt. Torpey served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died in the Asiatic area in the service of his country. He was initially declared MIA on a flight between India and China.
