William Howard “Howard" Thumma was born Aug. 11, 1915 to Jacob Levi and Ethel Mae Burkholder Thumma. He died Feb. 15, 1943 and is buried in West Branch Cemetery, West Branch, IA.

Pvt. Thumma served in World War II with the U.S. Army 13th Armored Regiment and was KIA in North Africa.
