Donald Devere Thess was born Sept. 30, 1922 to Peter and Julia Emeline Thess. He died Feb. 20, 1944 and is buried in the National Memorial of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Pvt. Thess served in World War II with the U.S. Army 106th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division and died of wounds received in the service of his country on Eniwetok Island, Marshalls group.
