Man Wounded in Solomons Joins V.F.W.


Jack Tarrant, who was wounded while serving with the navy in Solomon Islands fighting, was one of six candidates initiated into Shull Post 580, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at a meeting Friday night at the Labor temple. Tarrant, who also took part in action at Midway Island, will leave soon to resume active duty.

L.B. Newell, a past commander of the post, had charge of the initiation. Matt Detrich of Remsen, department judge advocate, spoke. Commander Joe Smith presided. About 100 members attended.
