DALE SWISHER IS CALLED UP FOR MILITARY DUTY

A. Dale Swisher, employee of the Beam company, has been ordered to report at Fort Sill, Okla., for military service. He is a field artillery captain and has been assigned to the staff and faculty of the field artillery school at Fort Sill.

Swisher plans to leave Monday. His wife and daughter plan to accompany him. He received his commission at Iowa State college.

Andrew Dale ‘Dale' Swisher was born Feb. 10, 1912 to Andrew and Bertha Bonham Fisher. He died Apr. 19, 1992 and is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.

Major Swisher served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was with the liberating force at Mauthausen and Gusen concentration camps, and received a Bronze Star with two oak-leaf clusters and an Army Commendation Medal. Discharged as a major after serving on Guam, he was with the occupation forces in Japan.
