Lt. Granvill B. Stringfellow

 

Granvill B. Stringfellow was born Feb. 6, 1917 to Ervin Edward and Myrtle M. Blake Stringfellow. He died Dec. 19, 1943 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, MO.

Lt. Stringfellow served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 493rd Bomb Squadron, 7th Bomb Group as the pilot of B-24J #42-73159, “Tough Baba”, serving with the 10th Air Force and was lost on a bombing mission to Burma when their plane encountered fierce enemy opposition of anti-aircraft fire and fighter planes.
