Lt. Merton George Straub

Spencer, Iowa --- Lieut. Merton G. Straub of Spencer, who has been flying with the royal air force in England, has transferred to the United States flying force there. He was one of 59 Americans to change recently.

Merton George Straub was born Feb. 22, 1921 to Otto H. and Minnie E. Hartman Straub. He died Apr. 12, 1944.

Lt. Straub served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died as a pilot of L-3B “Grasshopper” #42-14787 in a crash on the Fort Benning Military Reservation, Georgia.
