Lt. George T. Sterler

 

 

Our Neighbors in the Service

Sheldon, Iowa--  Lieut. George T. Sterler of near Sheldon, is home on a 10-day furlough from Blackland field at Waco, Texas, where he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the army air corps. He enlisted in the air corps on April 16, 1942, received his primary training at Victory field, Vernon, Texas, his second course at the Waco Army flying school, Waco, Texas, and after his furlough at home will received further training at Pyote, Tex. Lieut. Sterler graduated from Ashton, Iowa high school in 1938 and was valedictorian of his class. Henry Sterler, the father served as a machine gunner overseas in the last war and was in the front line at the time of the signing of the armistice.
