Glenn Steinhoff Killed in Action In Pacific Area

Pfc. Glenn Steinhoff of the U.S. Marine Corps was killed in action while on duty in the West Pacific area, according to word received by his wife, the former Ruth Oleson, Wednesday afternoon. No details as to the time and place have as yet been received.  Mrs. Steinhoff last heard from her husband about a month ago when he was being transferred.

Pfc. Steinhoff enlisted in the service two years ago in September. He had been overseas for one year, having served on Guadalcanal.

Besides his wife, Pfc. Steinhoff leaves a year-old daughter, Karen; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. George Frampton, of Boone; two brothers, Ed, who is in the armed forces, and Donald of Boone; a sister, Mrs. Robert Hadaway; and a half-brother, Johnny Frampton, both of Boone.
