Pvt. Schroder served with the 3rd Division, U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and was KIA on Volcano Islands, Iwo Jima. He was originally buried in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jima and returned to the U.S. for permanent burial in Indian Mound Cemetery in 1948.
